Don't Compromise. Go with the Best of Breed: Fedora 19

by Dietrich Schmitz

I've been all over the Linux Distro landscape during the past 9 months or so and can now say, without equivocation that Fedora is the best community Distribution, bar none.

In fact, if you've been following the release schedule, Fedora 19 Schrodinger's Cat is due out tomorrow, July 2, 2013.

Seriously, there isn't one single thing I can find bad to say about this Distro.  It has everything going for it and it surpasses all other Distros in breadth of features, community support, and with the backing and financial might of commercial Red Hat Enterprise Linux.

What that gives is confidence that Fedora is going to be around for a very long time.

No, all of the cookie cutter Distros, like Cloverleaf, growing like weeds will come and go as the novelty of playing 'me too' wears off.  The inexperienced young Developers, really should focus their formative years by working with this largest of large community Distros where new cutting-edge technologies first get into production and where much hard learning can be gained.  Don't become a Big Fish in a Little Pond.

Redirect your talent to the best Linux Distribution and help make it a bigger success than it already is.

For everyone else, still, Fedora has much to offer and is out of the box a painless install, and gives all of the basics needed for the general user.

And, add to that the rich YUM repository and you have a great Linux platform.

I've written a separate review of Fedora 19's features here.  Enjoy.
